thoughts, diary and photos of Team MAD

the morning after the night before

yesterday was an EVTEK trip to Suomenlinna, a historic group of islands just off Helsinki. Milja and Marit came with to meet Janne, Sami and John for the first time. by the time we got Soumenlinna the guys had a few beers down them. we explored for a bit (with looooads of stops for John to pee) and sat on the top of a mound. we couldnt see our Media Engineering group anywhere, so we left the mound to find them. was a mission down again.

just round the corner (and after another potty stop) we saw loads of upper years sagging around in a large group. still no sign of our class, but we sat on a rock and chilled. by now the guys had been drinking for a coupla hours. loads of upper years were starting to huddle in a group standing up with bits of paper. on the paper was the words to some Finnish song (i think) and they had added the word 'nyt' (now) in. everytime they got to 'nyt' they had to have a swig of their drink, and it was so funny, you'd hear everyone singing real loud, then suddenly "NYT" and everything was quiet and they had a sip. was hilarious. bloomin' finns, tell you what haha.

as the sun started going down it was getting cold, so me and the girls started to leave. we got to the ferry and janne rang and he was shouting real loud. apparently we'd left just before some drunken competition where there were teams of 6 and they had to make the longest line they could of the clothes they were wearing haha. he was really excited (and a little drunk).

im in uni now and i was just talking to one of the other guys and he said he had left the bar that everyone was going to later on in the evening at 1am and the guys were still there going strong - john was wasted, sami was ok but a little drunk, and janne was drunk but he wasnt too wasted. haha. no wonder none of them are here yet and it's already 12, half way through the school day. we have Engineering Maths in an hour, hopefully they'll pop in for that hehe.

must go, have to find the Finnish teacher to see if i can skip some of the language lessons...

new post

morning! it's such a lovely morning today! (maybe because i don't start until ten instead of 8 hehe)! and also because it's so sunny! apparently it's going to get better and better now (the weather) - which is strange! but thats what grandy said, and "no one but the grandy" knows! :) her and daniel came to pick me up today to take me to school (and bring me half of my clothes from all over places! Tonight we're going to Suomenlinna with dan's new class mates and this will be a good time to meet his new friends! (ps. dan - marit wants to come too :)). I'm not quite sure why the new class mates have to meet so far away on an island somewhere, but it's interesting at least ! alright, well it's about time for class to start. Have a good day everyone :)
Milja

Finally a nice title !

I thought i would make a nice title, a difference to "argh and ergh" hehe (dan!)

I'm trying to research into the Finnish Social Democrat Party for History (more like politics not history) because i have to write an essay for it. nice! but having a hard time, it's always hard to find Finnish information anywhere!

Marit and the other girls are talking about eyebrows and their hair! interesting.

-going to update this post later on when i have talked to dan-

funny times

standing at the macs in the entrance foyer of uni....

just been to the first of my Finnish For Non-Native lessons. turns out i don't have to be there, well at least for a while, as they are learning right from the beginning, and i've already done a course for 3 months. so i have 2 hours free without anything to do or anyone to talk to as my friends are finnish and didn't come in this morning. thinking about going to sort out my student bus card but then i'd have to pay an extra 2€ and i dont have that much cash on me today!

yesterday i had a 3 hour long Mac lecture/presentation and i so want one. i've wanted one for a while, but seeing all the things you can do and how nice they look and feel i want one even more. they just cost so much, and im a student! i'll have to either save up for like a year, or ask for one for a wedding present, which will still take a year. what to do, what to do!

come on clare (and james), sort your blog out :)

hmph!

we're at milja's house. dan's internet is down again. he's pretty peeved :(

just watched the first programs of the Finnish Big Brother which started this evening. it's the first ever series in Finland. looks like it will be a good series, although quite different to the English version. everyone seems to get along like they've known eachother for ages, and it doesn't look like the program directors are looking for confrontatins or friction between housemates, like they do in England.

dan had a good day at uni even if it was a bit loooong. tomorrow is Finnish and Computer stuff which should be fun.

milja is currently rummiging through her piles of clothes for something to wear for tomorrow and we have now found something atleast. (but she can't change her mind because I took half of her stuff to my house (dan's) to wash it. (non-stop loads going on at Lauras as there are the triplets clothes and her own so not much time for miljas)

anyway, i think it's about time for some sleep! ciao for now

movie

Sunday evening
"Just finished watching a movie, cheesy chick-flick and one of those feel-good movies (always nice on a sunday evening hehe). Long week ahead, Daniels new uni, alot of work, essays, long days, the lot! :) "

Monday morning
Lesson : Don't ever stay up late hehe!

already here....

I'm here at uni with Janne waiting for our teacher to come. Had to be here at 8am (early wake up at 6.30!), but we got here and first there was a room change so we were all really confused where to go in a building we've never been round on our own, and THEN we were told our teacher wouldn't be coming in until 9! That's a whole hour of extra sleep... grrr. AND apparently it was on the network thing for all of us to check and see before we came, so i could have actually had my lie in.

Anyways, me and Janne are just chilling in our computer room (waiting for our Engineering Maths class, strange choice...!). Janne just checked his chosen courses on the network and this maths course doesnt even show up on his page haha. so he's a bit confused.

I have 8 45min lessons/lectures (which sounds cooler?) today, it's my busiest day of the week (and the only day of the week i have to wake up at 6.30 apart from thursday, but that first lesson is sport and optional) so it's gonna be a bit of a difficult monday :)

I now hold the Longest Post Record...

testing testing

just trying some different things on layouts so apologies if things look a bit strange

cosmic

Dan
went cosmic bowling last night in Tapiola, was fun :) 24 euros an hour, which i thought was quite expensive, but then we managed to squeeze in 2 games, so in the end it wasn't so bad. i was victorious in both games but only marginally.
woke up to torrential rain outside. it has since been thundering quite loudly. but now the sun is shining.

Milja
[bowling with marit, tytti, me and dan by the way]
[sun is no longer shining - it's now tipping it down!]James and Clare are coming over 20th October (-29th) yay! (J & C = best friends from england)..(hopefully the weather won't be as bad, maybe snow though!! sorry guys :) )

Excitement all around :)
